Okay so like ive mentioned before im writing novel thingy about 240SXs / Silvias.

Anywho, im just gonna set up a scenario and i just need some advice please :D

So if you had to race a S15 pushing probably 350 horsepower plus with an S13 what engine would you go with?

I was thinking of a RB series of engines. i know there's like three to choose from if im not mistaken.

this has been killing me for the past couple of days. It has to unique setup.

~looks over notes~ :squint:

Okay so they try a naturally aspirated SR20DE (not sure on the specific model yet) which is tuned pretty well but it doesnt prove to be enought power.

So they wanted to switch to a different model engine.

(i was going to go with a SR20de RR engine only to find out that that's a FWD engine only. i know i'm dumb. you dont have to tell me. I used to own a sentra and i wanted to put that engine in it....before i totalled it. R.I.P. sentra. kinda in love with it. but 240s arent sentras so the engine choice was retarded on my part)

So im hoping all of the intelligent people of Nico's could help me out

IF you wanna beat a Supped up S15 what would you choose.

Race track has hills, straights. its a mountain. a sorta touge so to speak.

any help would be appreciated. im getting close to having to edit this part of the book

novel writing is such a loooooooong road

:chuckle:

Edit: PS for some reason the Character hates Turbos.... (hes a dummy right) supercharger is as far as he goes.
but NA, Turbocharged, and Supercharged will be considered. he may be forced into a turbo. i hate the fact that the character doesnt like it. he thinks it feels....weird.

How about an RB30ET?

Unique (only ever seen one in an S13) Uncommon, barely anyone knows about them, and there are a few in Australia that run 9 second quarter miles with these engines.

Lighter than a KA,
More powerful than a RB,
Able to deliver huge torque in a single bound,
The engine of gods, (ok, I am exaggerating a bit...)
GTO LS1!

This novel sounds like more of a day dream written down then something anyone would want to read if its over 100 pages.

How about it having jet engines powered by man->car love. You just f@#$ the crap out of the car, the harder you f@#$ it, the faster it goes.

Or maybe it runs on fanboy dreamers, like yourself, who just watched initial d and want to write a "novel" about it because your all starry eyed and wondering why a tv show gave you a boner.

good books.....BTW: whats a fan boy? ~Fan boy and Chum chum. lol its the first thing i thought of~

so if someone writes a fiction novel about street racing its bad? im just not following.

Im just looking for opinions on engines. Im a car nut. but i only have limited knowledge of engines. its something im working on

Sounds like a soap opera that airs at noon on the Oxygen network.

That was constructive criticism, don't take it too harshly. Good luck with the rest of your story.

hahaha, and you have written more than a few novels i see. nice.
anyway, heres some criticism for you, from me.

350hp s15 is not built by any means, you havent gotten into anything other than engines, theres much more to it than that, where is this mountain road? what season is it? whos driving? whos riding? what do they know, where have they been...your ideas so far that you've put forth sound like a mix between initial d, fnf-td and some day dreaming.
no offense but it must be better than that by far to keep its credibility at all.
so they took an s13 and had a na motor? thats an error there...i take it this is in jap land or europe or does some american have an s15? flesh it out.
an s13 with an na s15 sr20de with bolt ons, tune and the works, stripped out etc. lsd blah blah blah...would hang in this story and on that mythical road.
but they ditched that in order for a more suitable motor?...but he hates turbos...likes superchargers? then he's a twin screw roots type guy huh? i see....
why not use a v8? or na I6...where did they get the money? whos doing the work? where do they do said work...i feel as though the problem thats come up in these characters story line...wasnt really a problem at all, and they need an engine for no reason at all.
whatever you do its going to be hard to stay away from initial d-like scenery...
let me know where i can read this

the reason people aren't feeling your "novel" is because the topic is cars/racing. while this is an automotive enthusiast forum... cars/racing does not really translate into written entertainment well. not many people (even car people) want to read a book about cars/racing. its just one of those subjects that doesn't make for a good read. know what I mean? so don't take the criticism from people towards your writing hobby... it is merely directed towards the type of plot you chose.

na' mean?

if you would like for this to be a big hit, just write a vampier novel and have the charaters drive s13's, s14's, s15's, whatever you want.

Make sure you write in some subtle Mormon moral undertones such as no sex before marriage, that gets teenage girls really wet...

Yes, the RB30ET is a single cam, 12 valve 6 cylinder.

Its an uncommon swap in just about any car (seen about a dozen in a Laurel like mine)

Also interested to see how much of a "novel" you can get out of one street race. Maybe it'll catch on in Japan or something lol. As for me, if I'm going to sit down for some heavy reading, I reach for Tom Clancy.

i hear jealousy. lol

it is original in the Writing market. just not in the movie aspect. and the book isnt centered around the last race

i really dont care what ppl think of the novel. just doing research.

RB is a single over head. had no idea. sweet. im really leaning toward that. i'll have to read up on this engine and see what its all about. Thanks guys.

Lots of sentence fragments and overall grammatical "sloppiness". I hope that isn't your final draft.
:spitout:

OP, you remind me of the kid that thinks his Sentra is fast because it out ran some riced out Saturn. You probably drive "really fast" on your way to school and do burnouts when you pull out of the parking lot. I'd also be willing to bet money that, without asking someone else or using the internet, you couldn't explain what a wastegate does, let alone what is done to "build" a motor. This has the same problem F&F had. "Danger to manifold" Not only did that make no sense, but then the floor pan flew out? I agree with what was said above. If you're going to write this, keep it to yourself, and use NICO to actually learn something, and maybe, make some friends.

VQ30DET. Aluminum, quad cam, single turbo capable of 500HP on stock internals, three litres of Nissan fury.
Hell, you could make the story even more like Initial D and make it so that his dad gets his hands on a VQ30DETT Nismo JGTC engine and swaps it into the 240 right before the big battle... :chuckle:

Those aren't your ties screaming, It's the pavement. :naughty:
