S13 trunk key cylinder

if i want to replace the trunk key cylinder do i have to get that from the dealer? or i can go to a hardware store for that?

my existing cylinder is mess up my key can't open it.

well i ain't sure how it is mess up ...but my key just doesn't open it. thanks for the advice i'll try to soak it down first but let say i do have to change it. Do i go to a hardware store for a new one or i would have to go to the dealer?

That happened to mine... I found out that the guy who had the car before me never used the key in the trunk, so it's all rusted/corroded into one piece of metal. I took it to a locksmith and they couldn't get it open either. Take a look on the inside. If what you see looks unmoveable, it's time for a new lock.

is it hard to change the lock?

S13 coupe there is no panel or screw, just a metal retaining clip that holds the lock in place. Pull it and the lock comes out the outside of the trunk. Sorry, i have no experience with hatchback version.

wouldn't the lock be linked to a cable?the cable that you pull from the driver seat to open the trunk or is it 2 seperate thing?
