i opted to go with little pieces of Velcro. It doesn't stick to the dash or to the aluminum perfectly, but i have it so it will wedge into the spot and is still easy to take out..that way when i get some Greddy Gauges, it'll be easy to pop the old ones out, and plop the new ones in! Thanks for you help guys!

My setup... I got it to stay with a few drops of UHU glue. Stays put unless you give it a firm tug.

Oh yeah I live in PR; yesterday's heat index was 102 degs.

But the UHU works. The vent pod has never fallen out. I tugged it out about a year ago to paint the dashboard and then put it back in with some more UHU.

don't care too much about looking pretty in a 300whp car when my swap's done. efficiency is really all that matters; not to mention I still get to use my air vents and don't have my convertible pillars all ****ed up from holding gauges.

What else would you have recommended then? I've got people that will sit in the passengers seat and tell me it sits so flush with the regular Speedometer/gauges that it looks factory installed.

Granted, I guess you may like your empty dash but I'd like a good surface to hold gauges as well as a radar detector.

its not where the gauges are, but whats holding them. i'd rather have had single cups or the Greddy Holders than the double pod on the dash

do you really need a fuel press. gauge when you run a fpr that has a gauge built into it?

Next time you're driving your car, see which is easier to look at. Your pillar, your vents, or your console while still being able to see in front of you.

I 100% agree that gauges in a DIN are way better, sleeker looking. Hell I even bought that POS triple gauge single DIN holder from Glowshift. Thank god it didn't work because my gauges ended up on my pillar.

Assuming you guys actually drive your cars I don't want to be going 120 next to you while you're looking at your console.

My two cents.

Valid!

But then again you don't stare at your gauges all the time, just a quick glace and your fine. But even a quick glace can end up horrible.

Yes it can. But you have to factor in time it takes to focus on the gauges too, because obviously if you're looking at them it's not to make sure they're still there...you want something from them. But you're going fast and it's kinda bumpy. I don't know, just doesn't seem very high up on the safety scale to me.

Few weeks ago I made a manual boost controller. You know, the old hose barbs with a spring and bearing trick. Set me back a whole $4.23. Well when it came time to tune it, it was more than a quick glance at my boost gauge haha. I was driving long stretches focused entirely on my boost gauge. Just an example haha.

theres a guy on here who sells the vent gauge pods

zerothread/346846

i had one before, that i bought from ebay and it kinda sucked because u had to figure out how to get it to mount without moving. the one this guy sells he said it just goes in and fits tight enought that it stats in place. i didnt have the ebay one in more than a day and didnt put any real effort in trying to make it stay.

i ended up selling it and putting gauges in the heater vents by the cluster and using my pfc/ebc for the other info i need. i actually dont even need my boost gauge anymore. ill eventually replace it with something else but right now i dont need any other gauges

IMO boost / wide band needs to be in your face. so put there some where to can see them w/ out to much head / eye movement. Luckily Im tall so you know i opted for the ole head liner w/ the auto meter gauge rings.. I like those onces better cause they have a beveled edge.

wow this thread is old lol but i did mount my gauges in the vent, and i returned my Mechanical Oil Pressure gauge, and now just have the Boost Gauge. Going to get an two electrical oil press. gauges (one for oil, one for fuel ), a water temp gauge, a narrow band A/F gauge (i know not as good as wideband but it gives you an idea), and a Volt Gauge (so i know my **** is charging lol). i have two spots left in my vent pod, and im thinking a few more options, just because i'd have 3 gauges left over and no place to put them lol

Options:1) Triple Pillar - i like the way they look, but want a sort of subtle and clean look to my car. and i want to try and keep them all in the same spot sorta

2) Triple Cup Holders - http://www.glowshiftdirect.com....aspx thats the website. I know glowshift isn't a high end brand, but these seem cool for the price. I was thinking of mounting this above my vent pod on the dash if i were to buy it.

3) ATI Double Pod - the one that goes over the steering column. I like this idea, but i'd still have one gauge that has no home

4) Greddy Holders - this would invole be buying 3 $20 Greddy holders and moutning them next to the vent pod above the glove box. Not ideal for me and kind of expensive.

5) Custom - this would involve drilling holes into the dash by the vent pod or above the glove box and putting the gauges here (my last resort!)

Let me know what you guys think, and please, everyone feel free to show your gauge mounting solutions! Thanks.

i dont have the oil pressure gauge anymore

im also considering making a custom gauge holder out of fiberglass to fit where the A/C controller would be ( i dont have A/C or Heat) The gauges would mount BEHIND the whole shifter bezel assembly though. I might try that.
