I have an 91 s13 coupe i recently changed my differental and put in a welded one to get more side ways...since then i have noticed that my trany is not shifting as smoothly as it use to. When i drive i also hear a winding sound and when i come to a stop it decreases... I figured the differential is connected to the driveshaft that is conneceted to the trany and needs a little more power to spin in order to turn both rear wheels... Now when i turn my car on and throw it in first it is very hard to put in gear to where you need extra force and while shifting to second, when turing it kind of feels out of line and not the same like it use to when i had my regular dif in??? Any assumptions??

The only thing that comes to my mind is check out your transmission mount and driveshaft center bearing. If they are both worn out then that could cause your problems. Your rear diff is stationary so nothing moves there.

Also, could be faulty U joints or low transmission oil level.
