alright,i searched alittle but to no avail.

i was going on i-10 at about 85 and my transmission starts to make a slight grinding sound then all of a sudden it throws itself out of gear and starts to make a very violent and loud grinding sound.it will not go into gear at all if the car is on(it will make that grinding sound) and will not fully get into gear if i try with the car off.

my friends dad said he had a 442 do this and it was just the pressure plate,it sound logical and he is a mechanic.so i will just hope it is.

any of you guys have a similar experience to this one or can share some info.

i heed help fast,i have a van but it sucks on gas and is a bore to drive.i would like my s13 on the road as soon as possible!!!!!

thanks in advance.>>>>>>>>>A.J.

i had a similar problem. for me it was very hard to press on the clutch sometimes thus not being able to get in gear. what caused it was a broken pressure spring from the clutch plate got stuck inside. if you can, take a look at the transmission. if its not the clutch/flywheel, then your pretty much lookin at a trany rebuild.

Sounds to me like you may have transmission problems if you cant get it into gear with the engine off. With the engine off and the clutch pedal released, all pressure is off the pressure plate and it should shift thru all gears. Either way you are going to have to pull the transmission and take a look.
