I checked that the stock S13 has the size of P195/60R15 for front tires P195/60R15 or P205/60R15 for rear tires. My S13 has been had P205/65R15 rear tires since I bought it. It seems that the front and rear tires have more than 3% of difference in diameter. Is it okay? Or do I have to change the size of rear tires? Any pros and cons? Thanks.

195/55/15 is the stock tire size, optional tire size (like on alloy wheels) are 205/60/15. It's in your owner's manual. I'd run the same size all around .. preferably 205/60/15 if i were you. With a sidewalll like 65 you'd be getting a lot of flex. ..i'd replace 'em since 15" tires are cheap anyway.

55-15's weren't around in 1989 i think you meant 195/60-15 but I wouldn't know, as I never got an owner's manual

well he didn't mention if he had a pignose s13. Weren't 195/55 available for the dohc s13's time frame? I'm pretty sure that's what it said in my owner's manual, but i could go double check.

Nope. it was 195-60-15 for regular 205-60-15 for "summer"

I ran 205-55-15 on my stock teardrops, since its a V-rated sticky size and has lots of tire selection...

quick question, how long have low profile tires been around, like ???/40/17 or ???/35/18? I don't remember ever seeing any thing like that until like '95 or so.

For ages.

GAlthough it's been a gradual progression.

For a good "time capsule" on sidewall sizing, look at the OEM tires on the Corvette.

There was a time when 245/50/16 (late 80's) was VERY radical.

haha, that's so weird. What did the world do before such short sidewalls? Kind of like the 16" wheels on a Z32 in 1989.

yeah my 95 240 uses 195-60-15. i was thinking about running 205 for a set of summer tires, i guess that size wont hurt anything?

Both sizes are acceptable on the 240sx.

Back in the day, it was the BFG Euro TA in 205/40-16 that was teh hottness!!1

I have the FSM for my '90 s13 and it says that P195/60R15 86H are the standard OE with P205/60/R15 89H as an option.

For summer I use 205/60/15 for the fronts and 215/55/15 for the rears. For winter, it's 195/60/15 Weather Masters all around.
