I am sure this is a easy fix. But every where I look I am not getting a good answer. I installed a HKS turbo timer and used a Harness.. But when The timer is in count down I cant remove the key from the ignition switch till the timer is off. How do I go about fixing it? I know there is some wire to swap or cut dose anyone know..thanks

Its a Old school HKS timer with the push buttons... When you set the time to cooldown the car turn the car off the key turns back and will not pull out even pushing the black button to release the key. But when the timer shuts off you can push the Black button and the key will turn all the way back and come out.

did you figure this out? Im having the same problem.

car is a 93 hatchredtop sr20 swapjust installed the turbo timer, everything works but while the timer is counting down the car will not let me remove the key. once the timer has finished, or i manually sut the timer off, i can remove the key.

this problem basically renders the TT useless. Ive searched everywhere, someone help.

interestingly I had this problem today while installing my TT.

if you take the plastic covers off of the stearing column and look at your ignition, just behind the black button you have to pres to remove the key, there is a small switch (mine was brown). this has to be in the up position to remove the key. when you turn the ignition on, the switch goes to the down position. you can manualy move the swith up with the car running to remove the key (assuming you have something like my TT to keep the car running). now that I think about it, you might be able to get to the switch just by removing the small plastic bezel that surounds the tumbler, rather than removing the entire stearing column cover.

I called HKS for trouble shooting help, they said they had never heard of such an issue.

in any case, I noticed some small (black and red) wires leading to the brown switch, and tried unpluging them. It allowed me to remove the key without having to manualy operate the switch.

I dont know if this is an automatic trans issue only, or if all cars have it. I converted my car from auto to manual when I did my swap.

TT works great now.
