My USDM engine went out in my 93 240sx... looking to swap with a JDM s13 sr20det but not sure how hard it is...

anyone done this and can gi e me a little insight? I'd rather not pay the 1500 bucks to have someone else do it... also.. I'd be converting from an auto to a manual 5 speed. that cause any problems?

thanks guys

Unless you know a thing or 2 about cars and mechanics i wouldnt atempt it. Its not hard but especially adding the 5speed conversion makes it harder.

well I've done little things (replace radiator, thermostat, filters, etc) mostly little stuff... but I have a friend who'd be helping me who's more familiar with major projects and stuff (i think he's swapped a honda before.. either that he's real familiar with it)

it should be pretty much bolt in ... no?

bolt on, wiring is easy, just a big bolt on but when you get to troubleshooting if you've got some obscure problems you're screwed like me. lol

with my swap? I've got an irrigular idle, not caused by vac leaks and the normal stuff that's easily picked up. You can check out my ongoing thread on the Nissan Online Mechanic section. Other stuff that could go wrong, basically anything. I mean you are buying a used motor. Don't expect it to be in perfect running shape unless the guy cut it after driving it eh?

like everyone said, it's not a difficult swap. it can also take a while to do if it's your first time doing one. Expect the car to be down at least 2 - 3 weeks
