lets start off with..

i have an 89 240sx S13. building it to drift. so i want the rear to break loose and the front to maintain traction.

so far my mods are.. TEIN HR coil overs and a C-Pillar bar.

im having problems with maintaining a good angle as im getting understeer upon entrance. its not as bad as when i was riding on stock shocks and lowering springs. i wouldnt say im such a good drifter that my car cant keep up with my driving. i just wanna eliminate understeer and body roll as im experiencing front wheel chatter upon hard angles.

my question is.. what mods will help eliminate the factors at hand.

im not made of money but also will not go cheap so feedback will be appreciated.

i was looking into anti roll bars and im debating between tanabe and cusco front anti roll bar.

cusco has a 28mm front at about $250 and tanabe has a 30.4mm at $190.

rollcage would be best bang for the buck to stop most of the body twisting..and adds safty..you could allso foam fill your subframe and spaces..not the cheep expanding foam from homedepot but the marine rated stuff..it's a old school track trick to muffle frame flexing..just my thoughts.

What are you camber settings? What about tires?

You want negative camber up front for that added bite and little or no camber in the rear. Something like -2.0 up front and maybe -.5 out back. Tire wear will suffer, but you won't understeer.

Also try a harder (thicker) rear sway bar. The harder the bar, the more it'll keep the car from rolling, and the more consistent the break away pattern will be.

Tires might have something to do with it as well. If your running big tires out back, and skinnies up front, of course you'll be more likely to understeer. I'd advise running the widest possible up front, and slightly stretched in the rear. Higher tire pressure in the rear would help as well.

It's my understanding of drift suspesion tuning that you want the car to be a little unbalanced towards the rear without any power application, and you want the power to either bring into balance or drift the car for a longer period of time.

I'd say try to get it a little more unstable on "off throttle" corner entry, and you should find your balance.

im rolling on stock SE wheels.

i can break traction in the rear with no effort at all.. i just need help maintaining a constant drift. (i think) i need a stiffer front end. i notice that my weight transfers to the front and my wheel rubs on the inner well. wouldnt that call for a thicker front sway bar rather than a rear?

im interested in that marine foam technique. where can i find that stuff?

Nope, a stiffer front bar will make the front plow/understeer even more.

Get that Tanabe rear bar, jack up the rear tire pressure, and keep it off the street.

sounds very reasonable. i gonna adjust my camber but i dont have any rear adjustability yet. my front camber is almost at zero but on the negative side. so ill look into the camber issue and chime back in.

oh and i forgot to add that im one legging.
