Hey guys, I was burning out the bushing for my subframe when I came down to the last one and the internal sleeve looked like this:

It looks mildly in tact. I'm going to be using energy suspension bushings so I didnt want/need to cut the internal sleeve. Think this is ok? I really dont wanna source another subframe.

That looks kinda bad. I would probly get a grinding wheel and take off the big chunks of rust but try not to get into the metal. How was it taking it out?

Yea I kinda figured it was pretty bad. I really do not want to buy another but taking them out was a breeze. The sawzall to cuz out the center didn't work for me. I used my torch to heat up the center to the point where the rubber couldn't hold it, the used a similar sized socket and 4lb hammer to get the center out. Then set the fire and keep it burning until you can just scrape off the rubber. I did them one by one.

I dunno, thats the first I have seen look like that. I cant imagine getting a good fit with a new bushing set. You might want to put that in the scrap pile.

Did mine recently and my sub isn't all that great, but none looked like that. Not even sure how it would rust so bad there. Grinding/bristle shouldn't make it any worse. Give it a shot.
