hey buddy you know what is the problem with your car radio when you turn the vol up it dies or stop, we call it clipping it clips every time the unit or the speaker cannot tolerate/handle the power that you are sending to the speaker it is your radio protection to both unit either to your sp/ rad. all you have to do is check your car stereo power output vs your speaker handling power and your wiring connections to the speaker it should be always in (+ to +) and (- to - ) forward bias if one or two of them are in reverse bias thats another factor of clipping ie if your car stereo is sensitive when it comes to connections . email me if you have any [email protected]Danrc30 wrote:When I turn the volume on my Sony stereo up, it will shut off, and then usually turn back on all by itself. Sometimes it will stay off until I manually reset it. I basically can't turn it up too loud or it shuts off. The AM/FM also stopped working all of a sudden on its own one day while driving. I replaced the head unit, and it worked after I installed it. But the next day in the am, the same thing happened. Anyone know what's going on here?

I thought it was the radio too, but I put a fresh one in (same exact model) and the same thing happened to it. I think something in the car is frying the radio part of the head unit... and the power shutting off it also part of it... but how can this be?ard wrote:looks like radio itself. try to connect it to another car or whatever, see whats happening. i had one that worked only when muted, some chip burned or something. also sony.
