s13 stereo install... need mounting kit?

yah this is my 1st nissan, I did a search but didn't really find what I needed.

Do I need a stereo mounting kit for s13 FB? It currently have this sony crappy tape player that I assume is stock with a little tray under it.

the tape deck is probably not stock, because i dont beleive the stock ones were sony. Take out your deck and see it the factory harness plugs straight into the back of the deck or whether the factory harness has a wiring harness hooked up to it with all the wires connected to the decks wiring harness.

you wont need a mounting kit, but you will need the correct wiring harness kit.

ok so doese ne1 know how to replace the stock 96 double din size factory system. i want to put a pocket in there till i get some guages for the empty slot. how hard is it to open up the pannel to get the stock sterio out

This "How To" page should cover the removal process. I'd recommend using crimped or soldered connections instead of tape.

good luck finding a pocket. lol, i searched for months trying to find one, and ended up paying 15 bucks for it. ;[
