this kid i know decided to put a different steering wheel on his car and decided to have a bunch of really uneducated people do it and he didn't have the right hub adapter so they decided it would be a "swell" Idea to just make it fit and bang the effin thing on with a hammer till it went on... by doing so they effectively crushed the crush point in the steering column... so this is where i come in and have to fix the thing for him.... I need to know if the crush point is something that can be replaced by taking it all apart and putting another in? will it release so i can just pull it back out and weld it solid, I know that option severely reduces the safety of the car but the kid didn't care about that, after all he isn't rocking a bumper support in the car either so its really not that much worse. I would really really appreciate anything you guys can tell me on this short of having to just pull the entire column and get a new one.
