I wired up the Phantom 2 Autometer Tachometer into my S13 Sr20DET since my chassis did not come with neither dash or gauge cluster. My red from the tach goes to switched 12v, black is at my chassis ground, white goes to my headlight switch, and the green wire goes to my yellow/red wire where the tach signal wire for the cluster comes from. My problem is that my tach is reading way higher then what it should be reading. It says that I'm idling at 2200 and when I'm at 3000 rpm according to my AEM EMS it says on my tach that I'm 7000 rpm. I have researched about this issue and it says that by buying a tach adapter or putting a resistor in that it could resolve this issue. Can someone tell me what resistor to put in or if the "RPM SIGNAL ADAPTER FOR DISTRIBUTORLESS IGNITIONS Product # 9117" would work and also how to wire that in. I clipped both the 2 looped wires in the back of the tach and insulated them as well, on the instructions it said to do this for 4 cylinder vehicles.

Hmm, sounds a little complicated to me. I imagine the resistor will go inline on the signal wire you describe. As far as matching the RMPs to the engine/ ECU, I think you should contact the manufacturer of the tach. They should know how to make it work with your setup I believe.
