S13 Sr20det smokes and whines

Alright, my car has been acting up for a while now. It'll smoke and whine like crazy. The smoke comes out only if I get on it at high rpms and it is a black colored(not really sure why b/c I never dog my car), and also it whines at idle. I changed my water pump b/c I thought it was that and found out it wasn't. Anybody got any ideas/clues on what both problems could be?
