okay so is this normal for my car to be overheating on 95 to 100+ degree weather???

i have a sr with nismo thermo, mishimoto rad with dual 12in fans, front mount intercooler for the cooling system...the fans are wired to come on as soon as i turn the car on...

the car idels and drives fine...on cool days i can drive it as long and far as i want with no issue of it over heating, but when it is hot out if i dont turn the heater on blast then after like 30-40mins of driving it will start to slowly over then i turn on the heat on full blast then the temp will go right back to normal but if i turn it off after that then will still do the same thing???what is going on with my car???does it need more cooling like oil cooler???

the car is still running stock turbo manifold and turbo...the motor is all stock...need help cause i need to drive my car in this hot weather...thank in advance....

Have you checked the water pump? It may not be functioning at full potential. Also you might want to look into purchasing a fan controller that may help you fix the problem.

how will a fan controller help it???does it just controll when the fan comes on....my fans are on all the time, isnt that good enough???ill buy a new water pump and hopfully that helps...anyone got any other ideas???

also if it was the water pump then wouldnt it still over heat on cold days, after like an 1.5 hr+ of driving???

you could have a air pocket.

Let it idle as long as u can with the radiator cap off and the heater wide open and let the air pocket run out.

Are your fans turning the correct way?

and also your motor could had been overheated badly once before.

but you have all the regular cooling components that is recommended.

I believe if they're inside the engine bay, the fans should "PUSH" air onto the radiator.

if there inside the engine bay they should pull. if there in the front they should push

if the fans are inside they are puller. If they are from the outside they are pushers. If i may ask what kind of fans are you running 2 12" or 1 14" fans. Also i was wondering what kind of cfm does the fan flow?

What coolant are you using? If its to much water it will over heat like you say. Try flushing out the motor and use 50/50 and grab a bottle of water wetter

you actually can buy an adapter from an autostore that you can hook up to your radiator hose to your garden hose and just turn on the water

Question? do you have a gap b/t your FMIC and the radiator support? I had overheating issues too, as soon as I put a piece of aluminum inbetween the IC and rad support, the overheating issues went away. The air that was coming out of the IC was slipping below the radiator instead of going into it. The sheet of alum prevented this and forced the air to continue on into the rad. Here's a view from the top looking down.

Here's one from under the front bumper cover to the rad support. The angle alum is supposed to help create an area of low-pressure to faciliate the airflow through the lower part of the rad. Cost me about $30 for the material. I took the car out (stock boost on the SR) put it in 4th gear and drove 70-75mph (4k+rpm) for 20 minutes and it never ran hot (low 90's that day). oh yeah, I already had a Koyo rad, new thermo (stock not NISMO), dual elec. fans, new water pump, and a bottle of water wetter. Did that stuff done at time of swap.

I would love to make some extra money, but trust me, it's not hard to make. I don't have access to an S14 either, so unfortunately I would not be able to cut it correctly and would send you something that might not work. Thanks for the offer though. All you need is a large piece of cardboard (to make your template), a 24" x 36" piece of sheet alum from Home Depot/Lowes/etc (this size is large enough that I can make two panels for the S13), a 4 foot long piece of 1 1/2" angle alum (this was the shortest length of 1 1/2" I could find), some bolts to mount the sheet to the rad support, a drill and bit, some tin snips, and a hacksaw (or whatever to cut the angle alum). Took me about 45 minutes to make mine. Get under the car, cut your cardboard to approx. size, press on it to find the T/C rod brackets and the pre-existing bolt holes, and cut it out, then transfer to the alum. Your bolt holes might be a bit off, but that's why you get a piece of alum big enough to make two When I cut mine, I slid the cardboard and alum under the FMIC till it touched the bumper cover, then cut out the bolt holes and bracket spaces. So the sheet goes from the bumper cover to the rad support.

i know this is a little late but ill make you one, also i just re did my heater hoses so there not behind the motor at all, try that, cut the steel hose that turns behind the head under the intake manifold and just run a hose straight into the heater core and tee off for turbo water

this looks like something I want to do. My car does not over heat just runs hotter than I want it too was looking for a solution this may be it. I would cut my hands to bit doing this though. Do you know if any autopart stores sell this sheetmetal or a plastic piece?
