Hey guys I'm new to the site and just have some questions about a swap I am doing. I have a customers car here at my shop for an SR20det swap into his 95 240sx. I have been seraching on this site for two days now looking for any info on swapping this engine into the S14 chassis and I am finding nothing. I can find a ton of info about swapping into an S13 chassis but nothing about the S14. The only thing I seem to get is ...try searching..well I have tried that and I get nothing. I even tried to search the SR20DET (rear wheel) section and it comes back with no search results. When I go through the steps for the S13 chassis everything matchs up with the SR harness but nothing on the car side of things is the same. The Dash connector is different and for the life of me I can't find these two plugs that are suppose to be on the end of the KA harness (can't find the black with pink. Does anyone have any links that I can read up on about this swap into a 95? Again I have searched and it's coming up with nothing...hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks

You need to cross reference service manuals to get the proper wiring. Since there's no JDM wiring section out on the net currently, you can use the USDM KA manual. It should have everything you need save the ignition system. But that's easy. On the S13s, there's a blue/red wire going through one of the two plugs at the end of the harness that supplies power to the ignition. Tap it into an ignition switched power source. The black/red wire works best.

The reason you can't find the mate for those two plugs is that Nissan did away with them on the S14 chassis and all the wires were rerouted through the gigantic dash connector.

What you need to do is take the electrical sections of each manual (EF/EC and EL) and start cross referencing all the circuits to make sure you reroute all the wires properly on the S13 EFI harness. You will also need to move the S14 wiper circuits off the S14 EFI harness onto the S13 EFI harness.

The reason you found little info on the subject is that most people here get frustrated doing all the work required and send their harnesses to professionals such as Taylor Durdan or Wiring Specialties.

i would start with googleing the pin outs for both ecu's they should each have reference codes on the lower portion of the case. I would also suggest studying the fr sport s13 wiring diagram and your fsm, you might also want to contact heavy throttle jeff is usually willing to help. There are also companies on this site that can wire your harness for a few pennies (usually doesn't take to long and worth the $) you beat me to it

James,I don't know how familiar you are with Nissans, but Nissan does a good job of making sure that certain wire colors do certain jobs, even across the generations (hence why the S14 wiring diagrams are still useful the S13 guys)

Awesome, thanks for the reply guys. When I dropped the dash connector off the PCM that is exactly what I was thinking would have to be done. I have done major swaps before where the PCM has to be repinned (my personal car.. http://www.cardomain.com/id/raven_sc3800 ) but I wanted to make sure this was the proper approach before I starting digging that far into it. I should be ok from here thanks again.

First one I have worked on this in depth before but I'm a quick learner. :P And I did notice that as well, if you compare the us version S13 and S14 it does seem that they share the same color coding.

James, once you're done, you shoudl post up pics of the process and some advice to help others that want to swap S13 motors into their S14s.

lol...if you want to do it for me (at a reduced cost of course for being the guinea pig ) I can have you a harness by Monday morning.

One other thing I was wondering about is the ABS. Since it is controlled by the stock ECU it is not going to work with the SR ECU. I was thinking of just eliminating it and running a proportional valve from one that did not have ABS. I suppose you could piggy back the stock ECU to retain it but IMO would not be worth it.

ABS isn't controlled by the ECU on these Nissans. S13s and S14s have a seperate control unit for the ABS system.

that depends greatly on which motor into which chassis.
