Ok so i have a s13 with a blacktop sr20det installed. I was on the interstate the other night and ran a couple of mustang gt's. Well i dropped it down a gear and beat them and as soon as i did i let off to get back down to speed and everything seemed normal. well then i tried to give it some gas and it did nothing at all just jerked alot. i finally slowed down to a dead stop on the side of the interstate and the car died. tried to crank it up and nothing. tried again and it cranked up but ran VERY VERY rough. it was sputtering and jerking and sounded aweful. so i gave it some gas and let off the clutch and the fastest it would go was 10-12 MPH. I dont really know how to tell if i have a cracked block or blown head gasket or threw a rod or what. can someone please help me or give me some advice? it starts up now but when it idles it just sounds so sick and idles so rough and when i give it some gas it just choked basically. it kinda sounds like its missing on 2 or 3 cylinders. thanks in advance guys!

I don't know much about turbo engines but I do know how to tell if an engine is ****ed up. There are three things that make an engine run, fuel, compression and spark. What you need to do is take out the spark plugs and check them and the wires for damage and if they are the cause replace them and see crank it over. Next would be if the spark is not the problem is to check compression with a compression test. If you lost compression in a cylinder you can get a scope and look in side the chamber for holes in the pistons. Also take a look at the smoke coming out the tall pipe, it will be balck if your running to rich, blueish if your burning oil and white if your burning anti freeze. Also if you smell gas in the exhuast your missfiring. If you can find some answers from these tests let me know what you find and maybe I can help you get it running good again. BTW Thats what you get for street racing even if its sticking it to the stangs!

check your MAF and connectors, it sounds like your MAF is bad or its wiring is loose. or fuel pump, but im betting its MAF (mass air flow).

I know mafs can make your engine run bad but I didn't think they make it do what he's talking about. I thought it will just make your engine run lean or rich depending on the car. I think I'll go outside and unplug mine and see what it does.

give it a compression test.check over timing/tps and mafs circuitsee if you can pull any ecu codeslook for the obvious: coolant leaking along the sides, a hole in the side of the block, a look at how the oil looks, and try to isolate the sound to the top or bottom of the engine.
