I have recently heard that the PBM Cobra Downpipe does not work with the Tomei Expreme turbo manifold. I am wondering if anyone has ran into problems or has tested this. I plan on getting the Tomei manifold in the near future and i just purchased and installed the PBM Cobra on my stock manifold. I would hate to have to go with something different since i have been set on this for so long.

Quoted from PBM

FOR KA-T & SR: MAX 304SS FLEX COBRA DOWNPIPE
*made to order please allow about 1 week for fabrication
*if you have the tomei expreme manifold, that will push the turbo back towards the firewall and cause this pipe to hit the transmission
*all manifolds that maintain the stock position are not a problem

Looking for any feedback

Here are some pictures of the items just for fun.

Weird. My tomei manifold seemed to keep a pretty near stock position to me. Of course, my turbo is quite a bit bigger than stock so I'm not a good judge for this... I know a lot of/people run the tomei mani and a lot of people run the pbm cobra dp. I just don't know how often they run them together.

Yeah hopefully someone out there will know. I don't see how it would cause problems because there is a lot of clearance around the pipe, but i guess its possible.

Maybe you should try shooting an email to the manufacturers for more guidance on it. Maybe they can give more detail to it.

Tried installing my PBM downpipe today but a no go. Pipe is hitting bell housing and bottom of car. So I tried putting on the greddy... no good either... stock unit didnt fit either. All 3 were hitting the bellhousing. Thinking that the FP manifold doesnt put the turbo in stock location and needs to be spaced out about half inch or so. Took some measurements from block and firewall. Could somebody measure the location of stock turbo with stock manifold, that would be nice. Took some pics. U take any pics of ur install OM3GA?? and or figure it out yet.

Oh my, so it is not just the Tomei manifold huh? Sounds like i am going to have to invest in the HKS, unless i go with a megan or something :/

I have some pics of mine ill get them up soon, but i do not know when i would be able to measure it out.

It looks like the angle of the flange of the head of the Tomei Expreme manifold is perpendicular to the flange of the turbo (ie 90 degrees). The HKS has a little more outward angle (towards the strut tower and away from the motor) so it should clear the bellhousing. I still need to verify this.

This is the HKS manifold:

Couldn't really find any good pictures of the angle n the tomei:

See the difference in the angle?

With the Tomei Manifold you either need to mod your existing turbo elbow or get the tomei one. Read through a few threads on the other 240 site about this issue. Sucks though, but could just get a spare stock manifold and have it coated and honed and probally spend less than the tomei, and no fear of cracking.
