Hey guys, my SR will throw a flame once and a while if i rev it pretty hard and also between shifts sometimes if im beating on it. Im running a 3inch turbo back exhaust with a 3 inch test pipe, greddy fmic, t25 at 14psi, and safc-2.It usually happens when i get a back fire at high revs. Is this type of thing normal when running a test pipe or is something wrong? I havent yet had it tuned on the dyno so it may also be running overly rich.

u're just running a little rich when u shift. it could be that you have a bov thats venting to the atmosphere along with not having a cat. just make sure u dont shoot flames when u're near cops and u should be fine.

with your Greddy FMIC....did you mount your BOV down below by the inlet piping to the intercooler or is your BOV up top in your engine bay on your hotpipe?? and if you did mount it up top in the engine bay...what did you do to block off the hole in the inlet piping?? (Greddy conveniently designs their FMIC for use w/the factory BOV...which requires an underneath mounting position)

Flames are usually as said above Atomospheric BOV and No Cat. Plus the SR runs rich with a 225 pump and stock FPR.

Its normal unless its popping with under throattle then you might be runnign to rich like my car was. I just used my SAFC to lower the fuel curve where I was getting pops out the exhaust and presto its fixed.

Probably street racing (since you said you had to beat on it for it to happen), repair order for the exhaust, display of speed or whatever, chirping tires, whatever he / she feels like honestly

be careful about that fire. i had to replace my bumper awhile back because it caught on fire. solution? make some sort of heatshield for it where the muffler tip is near the bumper, so its less prone to fire. haha.

Oh yeah, I had to make a steel plate on my bumper cause of that.

You aren't running rich, it's just a temporary rich condition caused by the BOV venting metered air.

Its nothing to worry about and is normal to alot of modified cars. My KA24DE would occassionally do it if I let off at a high RPM.

thanks for the inout guys. As far as killing the T25 running it at 14psi, that issue in my opinion is wayyy overdone! I've been boosting it at 14psi for a full season and the turbo is still in perfect shape, no shaft play, the seals are not leaking and it will hold boost perfectly fine throught out the rpm band. I know it definelty shortens the turbos life span, but t25's can be found all day long so im not concerned.
