Upon installing my new manifold, I noticed that the OEM catch can cannot fit back in its place. I wanted to know if the hose coming from the valve cover to the catch can can be re directed directly to the nipple that connects the 2nd part of the catch can. the one that i believe is attached to the block???

It technically can, but I believe you get more blowby when you do it though. The can's purpose in life is to act as a sort of collector as intake gasses blow oil fumes in the direction of the can.

S14s get away with no catch can because their oil return line is not directly connected with the intake hose. If you remove it, I would suggest removing the intake line and attaching a small filter to it.

That would definitely work. I don't know much about installing aftermarket catch cans, so I would recommend doing some research or hopefully someone on the boards can chime in here.
