I believe with a S14, you need to swap the SR speed sensor with the S14 KA-DE speed sensor.

Yeup, just like he said, you need to take the S14 speed sensor and install it into your S13 transmission. My friend did the same swap and his speedometer read more than double until we swapped the sensor. It fits right in without any problems.

i looked at an 95 ka24de speed sensor and it dosen't have a gear like an s13 at the end. do you have to swap the gear?

Although the connectors of the S13 and S14 speed sensors look different, the gears will slip right into the transmission. If it does not fit or will not go in all the way its either not the right speed sensor ie wrong car, or the speed sensor for an automatic, which will not fit a manual transmission.

Also when you switch the speed sensors between S13's and S14's you need to cut off and splice in the plug for the corresponding speed sensor.

The speed sensors will bolt into the slots no problem. The electrical connectors are just different and need to be swapped.

I have a redtop in my S14 and I used my S14 speed sensor in the trans that came with the redtop. Since you are keeping your trans harness, there is no need to switch any electrical connectors. Just plug and play. Take it of your KA trans and then put it in your SR trans.

When I did my friend's swap, I found out that if you buy a S14 speed sensor from the dealer, it doesnt come with the gear and you need to order the gear separately. Like everyone else said, if you pull a sensor from an S14 transmission, it has a gear on it and fits right in.

You can use the S13 KA speed sensor in a redtop. The S13 JDM and USDM speed sensors are the same. The S14 JDM and USDM speed sensors are the same.

The only time you really need to cut the harness is if you put a kouki S13 gauge cluster into an S13 because it reads off of an S14 speedo. Other than that its a good idea to just use the KA transmission wiring. Unless you started out with an S14 auto.

i had an issue with the auto to man swap. you need to use the s14 speed sensor. it will fit right in the s13 trans. if its an auto s14 speed sensor, get ready for some leakin trans fluid, but it still works. the s14 manual speed sensor is solution.... period...
