Ok, here's how it all started. I had an 89 hatch that i swapped an sr into and everything worked fine, no problems at all. i did the wiring myself and had no problems what so ever. Now, i've purchased a 90 coupe that was an automatic to begin with and swapped everything over into it. I plugged everything in, and the car fired up. The only problem is none of my gauges work. gas gauge, temp gauge, tach or speedo. None of the warning lights light up when i put the key in the on position either. The cluster doesnt even light up when i turn the headlights on. The only thing that works on the cluster is the clock. I've also borrowed a cluster out of a working car and it didnt help. If anybody has any insight into what could be causing the problem please help!! And i have tried the search button and found nothing even remotely like this. thanks in advance.

Dan

UPDATE: I just found out (now that its dark out) that the gauges do illuminate, but i also found out that the blower motor isnt working. Ive checked every fuse in the car, and found NOTHING wrong with any of them. i also noticed that the automatic seatbelts arent working

did you plug in that white plug at the ecu that runs up to your gauges? also check out your fuses in the kick panel and up front.

did all that **** work on the car before you did the swap, or did you not think to check?did you double check all the plugs/fuses and relays?

UPDATE: yes, i have checked every fuse in my car, and they are all fine, and yes every one of those things did work before i did the swap. To recap: gauges dont work, turn signals dont work, automatic seat belts dont work, and the blower motor doesnt work. Now, does anybody know if these things are all tied into one specific module, or anything like that? i believe it is one thing causing all of these problems, but i cant think of anything

only other thing i can really think of that could tie in all that stuff that seems fairly unrelated is the tcu...

QUESTION: When i swapped into the used to be automatic, i kept the manual lower harness. Seeing the lack of use of the neutral position switch, and the reverse sensor, wouldnt that mean im supposed to use the automatic lower harness?? ( not the one with all the stupid plugs that are related to the automatic only)

I drive my car daily and I have the same exact problem. But I didn't do any swap. It just happened last light. Checked my fuses as well. So I too need answers on this!

have you tried swapping back to the automatic lower harness yet? i dont know if that will work but like you said.. some of the wire colors dont match up.. maybe the pinouts on the plugs are different and thats whats causing the problems by not sending the proper signals..if that doesnt fix it im bringing a grenade next time i come over..

he didnt have the hazard switch plugged in... lol.. he has fixed the problem by the way.. i guess there are 3 diff. relays in that harness that had to do with all of those things.. he replaced them with spares he had from his other harness, and then he found some hidden inline fusable link somewhere, (i think) and replaced that with an inline fuse (the proper amp rating of course) and everything started working.. we are pretty sure the problem came about when he first started the car with no dash on but the gauge cluster hooked up and the black of the gauge cluster hit the metal reinforcement and shorted out killing the fusable link, and toasted one of the relays, either way he'll be on the road soon
