Here in Arizona, many SR owners would recommend you keep the clutch fan and shroud. The shroud does a very good job at directing the air flow through the radiator.
Its funny how I see so many people bring up the weight thing and freeing up horsepower. The force to move the clutch fan is rotational, so although it does have rotational inertia (resistance to rotational motion), it weight is ultimately not a significant factor (the clutch) I would think. I would love to see some dyno sheets to see if these electric fans had any benefit to them, I doubt they do.
As a common sense check though, go out to an SR with a stock fan and rev it up and notice the air flow through the radiator, and then go to one equipped with electric fan, you be the judge. Also as a fellow sr20 owner pointed out to me here, since the amount of airflow through the radiator is proportional to the engine speed, its maximum when you really need it (at high revs).
