Like the title says, either in the doors or rears? Do they make a plate adapter for it, or is 6x9 too big?

Adrian,

Are you dealing with a hatch or a coupe? Are you thinking 6x9's so you won't have to run a sub but still get bass?

Pop off the quarter panel plastic.

There is a spot big enough to house a 6x9 on each side if you cut a small panel out of MDF or something.

It's quite popular with the stripped guys who like music. Not sure if it's the same for a coupe, because I've only seen it done in hatches. But I know people shove 8" in the same spots on an S14. Coupe should be the same.

Yeah, I was looking at me rears and kinda thought I had to chop something up...

I'll try something and see what happens, hopefully I wont ghetto it too much. I tried and searched, but I didnt find any templates available

yeah?? How centered is the speaker cover panel thingy to the actual speakers?

have any pics?

That's cool if they fit, I'm probably gonna put my 6x9's up front and put my front speakers in the rears.

Out of curiosity what is your setup for the front?

You might find that you don't need rear speakers at all. I have 6.5" in the doors of my S13 using adapters I got off of eBay for $10 shipped. I eventually plan on replacing them with a nice set of Infinity coaxials and amplify them. That, along with my 10w0 JL in a sealed box should sound pretty damn good.

haha dude, music is important to me too, but I'm too broke to spend $$ on sound, lol. I have my priorities else where, like suspension or something else (mostly these damn tickets I keep defering )

OoooOOo... I see. See, I had imagined in my head that you screwed the speakers under the door panel where the oem speaker would be..

hmm, but thats not a bad idea, esp cuz I have speaker covers too

I'm pretty sure that they are for the rear, but IDK honestly all I know is I got them thrown in with H4 IKI lights I bought.Sorry if this doesn't help you.

Here's a picture of an install I stole from the 240sx.org install site to give you an idea, the location is similar on our cars.

However, do yourself a favor. Get the 6.5" door speaker adapters posted above and a nice set of speakers to put in them. Throw in an amp to feed them ~100w or so depending on what speakers you get, THEN ask yourself if you really need rear speakers. It wouldn't hurt to toss some sound deadening under the panels to solidify the sound, better mids/lows, less rattle.

I have a set of crappy $20 speakers in my doors, and I don't miss my rear speakers one bit. I'll eventually buy some decent coaxials and rig my Infinity 102a amp to them, and find another 300w amp for my JL 10" and I'll be golden.

I have an S13 Coupe and wanted to put some 6x9's in the back. I could make a template but I was wondering if anybody had made one already and if they could post some pix. I have 6.5's in the front and I wanted 6x9's in the back so that I would have a nice balance.
