I've seen where people spend over $1000 for the projector beam headlight mod incorporating the "sleepy eye" headlight look. I also see that there are some people riding around with the "sleepy eye" mod with stock bulbs that aren't projecting down the road as they should. At Autozone today, I noticed some headlights that are the same width as the stock headlights, but are only like 2" high. You think those bulbs could be easily retrofitted into the stock headlight housing, so you can have the "sleepy eye" look and functional lights without spending over $100?

do u have to have projector lights? i have stock and i just did the '5 doller' sleepy eye mod. man if u had 1000 to spend on lights you should be able to shell out 100 for a pivot controller =\

By "u", are you referring to ME? I have the stock headlights. I'm discussing retrofitting the slim headlights I saw at Autozone onto the S13.

i told my brother to do the same thing too when he wanted to do the sleppy headlights, i told him to get headlights that's lesser in height for the full potential of it.

Instead i all did was pull the headlights out, my bro stuff cushion behind the headlight, and then i put a screw through the inner housing to hold the headlight in place. cost=$0.

The point is to have the entire headlight's reflector aiming all of the light onto the road without being obstructed.

hrmm well i guess you can't do the ghetto rewiring mod if you spent 1000 on projectors... if only they were cheaper. Since this ghetto way u gotta time it =]

I personally don't like the quad-projectors from clearcorner.com. It just has this really cheesy APC aftermarket ricey look that doesn't appeal to me. Instead of spending all that money getting 4 fog lights retrofitted into your pop-up headlight housing, why not go with a seal beam conversion. These headlights are so clear and clean. They have this diamond cut inside that allows for a wide beam dispersal. Check 'em out here: http://216.82.69.117/detail.as...6-DIA

Let me re-phrase my earlier comment...The point is to have the entire headlight's reflector aiming all of the light onto the road without being obstructed... while still having the "lazy eye" look.

I have one question hope someone can help me out, when you the 91 240 withthe pop ups and you do the s13 conversion how would you connect the lights, i mean the harness? Has anyone had previous experience with this, once they're installed what would you have to do with the harness, is there a place where they have this done with maybe some pics?

Your idea really can't be done. If you go outside and take a look at the headlight you can only screw it down maybe 1/2" before you start obstructing the head light lense. I'm sure there are a ton of custom fabricating ways to get around this, but that equals $.

I just did. SCC = Sport Compact Car.

http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com and search for "Project Silvia"

I'm too lazy to search for you, but you can do it yourself. Good luck.

Did you read my original post? I'm talking about replacing the current bulb with a much lower profile bulb that is readily available. I don't think it would be that expensive to fit it in the larger hole that the OEM bulb fills. You could just have a 1/8" thick piece of metal fabricated that had screw holes in it so it will bolt into place where the stock bulb goes. The piece of meatl would have a square hole where the lower profile bulb would fit. Here's a pic I made. The red square is the outline of the stock bulb. The blue rectangle is the lower profile bulb. The dashed lines signify the part of the housing that is recesed under the sheetmetal when the lights are brought down into the "sleepy eye" position.

i don't think your idea, of putting a lower profile headlight would work. I may not be getting something... but the shiny housing around the headlight is designed to beam light straight. Changing the bulb won't really change that direction, you would need a different shiny housing. The set-up on JdM RiCe's car looks like it could be made with:That pivot thing2 fog lightsSome custom metal housing, made with paint, a hole saw, and probly a welderand some understanding for electrical systems(the only thing i lack)

wouldnt you have to angle the headlight so it'll point straight in "sleepy" position?

To be honest wouldn't it make since just to get the pivot controller I have seen $80 shipped on e-bay, and sleepy look during the day and fully open during night? I garantee that if a cop sees a half exposed headlight you are getting a ticket. I got pulled over cause I forgot to put my headlights on untill I pulled right out of a bestbuy parking lot. Trooper was cool though. Hint about getting pulled over is, do not be ignorant(play dumb), ask him questions, never respond with an answer when they ask you "Do you know why I pulled you over". If you say you think you were speeding U R screwed. And always ask if there is somethign they can lower it to, the cops hate going to the court houses and dealing with the paper work. hmm I kinda rambled

well if you guys don't wanna buy that pivot controller there are knobs under the hood next to each light to manually adjust the angle of the light (originally designed in case your motors don't work anymore). you'd have to pop your hood and twist the two knobs to change your headlight angle, but that'd solve the pivot issue and it's free:D

king- if you turn those knobs, the lights reset when you use them...so that is just alot of work for nothingand i am pretty sure that if you have DOT lights that are getting mostly used, not like straight at ground, you should be ok
