To be honest I don't know much about car audio. Rather than waste money on the wrong stuff, I'm coming to you guys. I'm looking for the best bang for the buck with $500 to spend. As far as the head unit goes, the only necessary feature I ask is a front aux. input as I will be using my ipod often. I need a smaller sub too. Nothing big as I don't listen to rap very often, but I have been listening to a lot of house/trance lately, so I need as tight a thump as possible with what room is available (not much!).

I know that's not a lot of cash to work with, but it's all I can really spare. Are any of the "pawn shop brands" actually worth looking at or all they all garbage?

Okay, so after doing some research, I'm considering the following:

DLS Components in the front and back - I've read quite a few people rave about them online. I know this is their bottom of the line stuff, so I'm wondering if I should go with these or get another company's middle of the road stuff.http://www.uscaraudio.com/cgi-...DLSB6

Pioneer DEH-P2900MP Head Unit - Has pretty much everything I'm looking for in a head unit - high/low pass filters, 3 band EQ, front aux in, 2 pairs of preouts. Will two pairs be enough? One will be dedicated to a sub - will one pair be able to run an amp dedicated to the other speakers if I decided to amplify them down the road? http://www.crutchfield.com/S-x...HP290

Rockford Fosgate PL2-110 Subwoofer - This is where I'm lost. This would include the sub/enclosure, which is nice because it would fit in the trunk of my coupe, but will it sound decent? Should I just buy the sub on its own and buy a small single "10 bandpass box? http://www.crutchfield.com/App...p=112

All that's left is an amp which I haven't even looked for since I haven't decided on a sub yet. Seems kind of pointless.

What do you guys think?

Let me know what your budget is and I will come up with a nice package. You can read on my introduction thread what my business is all about. I have personally been in the business for 15 years. My partner has been in it for over 20. I have Alpine head units on sale right now, which have full I-Pod control. I also have some JL Audio speakers on special. I carry the full line of both JL and Alpine, along with many other brands. So just because it's not on sale doesn't mean that I won't sell it for a good price...... you just have to ask.

Thanks,

Toby
