hi listers, i have a few questions for you sr gurus. i have an s14 and an s13. the s14 i plan on parting out, but can i use the wiring harness for an s13 or vice versa. also, how can i know/is there a way that the ignitor chip/cas/mafs etc are in good working order. i plan on selling these items, but i want to make sure im selling items that work well.

is the s14 block interchangeable with an s13 head/ecu

also, how do i know i have the right ecu with the right engine??

P.S, if anyone needs anything let me know

thanks

Are we talking SR20DET's or KA24(D)E's? And if it's of the KA24 flavor, is it DOHC or SOHC?

people have the #'s to differentiate all the ecu's...SR510 on FA has that info....

the blocks are interchangable afaik...should not be a problem at all....

the wiring harness's wouldnt be interchangable i dont think, there are extra sensors with the s14's...

There are 4 types of S13 SR20DET ECU depending on the year/type of your SR20DET. They are as follows:

#61 - 1991 to 1993 180SX/Silvia Redtop SR20DET Automatic

#62 - 1991 to 1993 180SX/Silvia Redtop SR20DET Manual

#E5 - 1994 to 1996 180SX Blacktop SR20DET Manual

#J7 - 1997 to 1998 180SX Type-X Blacktop SR20DET Manual

From what it seems, some of the ECU can be cross-used as long as you didn't get an automatic ECU. If the car fires up and runs/boost well, then chances are it's useable. But to be safe it's always nicer to get the correct ECU model for your particular motor.

That is when buying an engine setup from a front clip is your best bet.

Well there are more than four ECU's, those are just the suggested/common ones. I am running my redtop off of a #63, and like I H8 UR DSM said 'SR510' (from Fresh Alloy) seems to know all the ECU numbers from all the chassis years.

That info is not necessarily true. I have a 98 180sx and my ecu says E5 and I got a clip.
