I've done a bit of searching on this, and found conflicting information. As you may have read from my earlier thread, the compression in my KA24DE is low across all 4 cylinders. They range from 118-121 PSI...not good.

Two part question:

1)I'd like to swap in the transmission and engine from the lowest mileage engine I can find. I've read that anything newer than a '95 KA will be difficult to swap in to an S13. How so? If I could find a '96+ would I be able to keep my old ECU, harness and my intake/exhaust manifolds?

2)Including a decent mileage engine, what would you estimate the total cost (including install) to be? Does something in the $1200-1400 range sound reasonable?

I figured out part one of my question...still wondering about the above. What would you consider a good price for a low mileage ('96-98) KA24DE installed?

I'd love to be able to install the engine myself, but I don't have the time, workspace or equipment to do it.

Depends on the shop you take it to, a performance shop is going to run a bit higher than a auto repair shop though.

BadMojo, I am doing something similar, I am putting in a '95 KA24DE into a '90 Chasis, did you come across any material to help you out with the F3 Plug?
