I was involved in a front end wreck a few months ago and just now got around to patching everything back up. The car ('93 with original stock DE engine) did this immediately after the wreck but was drivable. I assumed it was something to do with the radiator fan caught on the shroud, so I just babied it home and assumed it would go away when I made the fix, not so lucky.
The car runs fine when cold, but once it starts to warm up, it hunts like crazy and you have to constantly feather the throttle to keep it running (will not idle). It feels like the car is fighting your inputs and it is nearly impossible to keep at a steady rpm. If you floor it it will rev up to around 3k and make a sound like a rev limiter (safe mode??).
The car had a full tune up just before the accident, and it was running fine. The fuel system looks unaffected. From my research, I'm thinking it might be the MAF or the distributor, neither of which is cheap enough I really want to just throw a new one on there to see if it works. Anyone had/fixed similar issues or know what these symptoms might point to?
