Just picked up a 91 240 last week and all was good until it started running on 3 cylinders. I replaced spark plugs and wires the day after getting the car, when it started running on 3 cylinders I replaced the plug in #4 cylinder since it is the one not working. and the problem still existed.

A friend's s13 was doing the same thing last week but then went back to normal. is this a common problem? if so how can I fix it?

Most likely, it's an injector. Yes, it's a common problem. Go to a junkyard and pull a couple of them. You must use new o-rings. It's okay when the engine is cold, but doesn't work when it's hot. At least, mine acted that way. Yeah, I've replaced 3 of them so far.

Thanks, I was thinking it was possibly an injector. I searched and couldnt find where anyone has had the same problem. Now I wish I wouldnt have sold parts from my old KA.

Hopefully thats what is wrong with it.

Change your cap and rotor too. That is a maintenance item that hardly ever gets done on our cars.

I had this problem with mine..i switched injectors but the same cylinder still wasnt firing..so what i did was got a volt meter and checked the plug on the injector harness...turned out it wasnt putting out anything...so i traced the red wire (positive) on the injector plug and found that it was corroded away....it wasnt even connected...soldered it up.works like a charm
