I have search for hours today online for Factory Subframe bushings and cannot find any. I am the original owner of my 90 hatch with 197,000 miles on the clock and drive it everyday. After installing a Energy Poly bushing kit up front and on the rear I discovered my subframe bushings were shot. For a temporary fix I used spacers and the ride is so bad it is funny. I know it is a sports car and should not drive like a luxury car but this is really bad especially in New Orleans because they do not spend any money on the roads.

I can only find Energy Suspension Subframe Pineapple Bushing and I am not sure if the poly bushings will help soften the ride over the spacers. I am not sure if I messed up the factory suspension using the Energy bushings or if it is the spacers because I did everything at one time.

Any Advise on where (if they make) OEM Subframe bushings or will the Energy or any other brand help restore the OEM ride.

TKANKS FOR ANY HELP!

Nismo makes some of these bushings. They will be soft as hell if they are anything like the Nismo Motor Mounts. Typically people want better performance for something as big of a pain in the a** as changing the rear subframe bushings. Why replace them with ones that are going to break down again?

I replaced mine with full solid aluminum ones, get the Energy ones and be done with it if you want the ride to be comfortable still. Otherwise the Nismo ones are going to be the next best thing compared to the stock feel.

Poly bushings will be fine for keeping vibrations down and isolating you from the road. Energy, Megan Racing and Nismo all make them.

Thanks so much. I had so much fun with my s13 in the past with performance mods especially clutches that did not help the subframe but now with a bad back I just need to get it as soft as possible.

I saw in a older post someone used Energy Z32 bushings that are a little taller and had to use 12 x 1.25 bolt and it worked out because Energy did not make one for the S13.
I assume the Pineapple bushings are now the correct replacement.

Will also look into Nismo but I think they are 3x the cost of Energy.

THANKS

No problem but just so you know, poly bushings aren't going to give you a "softer" ride in the same sense that softer spring rates do. They just provide more isolation from vibrations and road noise that solid aluminum bushing would simply transmit straight through into the chassis.

OH LORD - I have not even thought of Springs. I still have the originals from 1990 on my car. I might change them while I have the subframe out. Maybe that is what I need now & I am sure I will have a problem finding the "softer" springs. I guess I will just try OEM online unless someone knows what springs I should get, maybe that is the fix for the bouncy bouncy ride I now have after the Energy Poly bushings and the spacers.

Thanks Again

For comfort I would go with the Tein S-techs + KYB AGX struts. Teins are only marginally stiffer than OEM, plus they have a progressive rate, and AGX struts should be more than a match for keeping them under control even on softer dampening settings. Plus you'll have the added visual benefit of the slightly lower stance.

Just got off the phone with Nismo and they DO NOT make the subframe bushings anymore. I do not know why I always have issues when working on my car. I guess because it is 21 years old and most owners do not
use the car for daily driving.
Because the Nismo are not made I assume using the Megan Racing might be a better fit or should I go with the Energy?
THANKS SO MUCH!
