Hey guys! I’m getting ready to do a S15 turbo upgrade on my car and I wanted to get some questions answered first. Before you flame me about not searching let me say I know some of these questions have been answered before. However, this seems like a likely upgrade for some to make so I was thinking if we could get some good responses to the questions in accurate detail then this would make a really good sticky.

I have an s13 with a redtop, stock t25, greddy hotpipe and front mount.

Will Taka Lines for a s14/s15 turbo work with redtop engine?

Will I need any kind of oil restrictor for the s15 turbo?

Do I need both the s15 compressor inlet and outlet or will any of the s13 components work?

Will I have to cut any of the inlets/outlets to use my greddy hotpipe?

If you use taka lines you need the oil restrictor, if you use the factory hard lines you dont need the restrictor (I used the factory hardlines)

Do I need both the s15 compressor inlet and outlet or will any of the s13 components work?

you need a s15 compressor inlet and outlet pipe or you can cut and reweld your pipes to work. I just tweaked my custom intercooler piping a little and made a new intake with some 2.5" bends.

Will I have to cut any of the inlets/outlets to use my greddy hotpipe?

the hotpipe is not going to match up to the turbo outlet so some cutting/rewelding/coupling will have to be done.

Basically there is a few ways to do this, I chose the cheapest way

To get my hotpipe to mate up to my t28 i got the 45 degree rubber elbow off of the stock hotpipe and put that on the turbo outpipe and then just cut my greddy hotpipe so it would go straight into it. It was very easy.

Wow, you guys are quick with the responses. Thanks. I'm confused by something. Virus, you said if I use the hard line I won't need an oil restrictor. Why? Does the stock hard line have a restrictor built into it? If thats the case why did you post in another thread that the turbo has a restrictor built into it?

I know I don't havea s15 t28, but I ordered some taka lines for the t25. If you have to have an oil restrictor for the t28 do you also have to have them for the stock t25?

it does have a restrictor but its seemed that people with taka lines needed a restrictor with it to work. I have no personal experiance using taka lines but thats what Ive heard from people using them. Ive been running the stock hardlines for 18k miles on a s15 t28 so I personally know thats a winning combination

Honestly I couldnt answer your question. I just found out that I have a t28 instead of a 25 when i ordered a hotpipe and it would fit then i got to doing some research. Im also not sure whether or not i have a s15,s14, or pulsar gti-r t28. My motor came with it and i know its a 28 from the a/r .60 and the stamp that sais m24 on the compressor housing. If im wrong let me know. Also not to thread jack... How can i tell what t28 I have visually without taking it apart

if you take off the turbo elbow, look at the turbo, and if there is a divider between the turbine and the wastegate, then it is an S15 turbo.

Virus,

So you're saying that the turbos have a restrictor but the Taka lines need an additional restrictor in order to work properly? Does anybody think the Taka line are worth the extra money?

Taka lines come with a .035" restrictor IIRC.

I never used the t25, I have custom intercooler piping from the KAT I used to have to I just moved it around a bit to match up to the GT28R.
