ok ive searched and cant really find anything on my specific situation. so dont be too mad. Ok problem number 1)When my MAF is off the engine will rev up exactly the same as if it was on. 2)Car seems to run very rich when its sitting at idle. When driving it faintly smokes, but if i hit a red light or stop for any reason. white smoke starts piling out of my exhaust. Was kind of curious if problem 2 was due to the first problem. theres also a sudden powerloss at higher RPM, havent put in a KA24de cluster or the JDM s13 one yet so not sure exaclty wut RPM it starts losing power. pulls hard through first 3000 rpms it feels like then loses power, but still hits the higher RPM's. ive got S13 SR20det in a 89 240 coupe. ive got a z32 fuel filter, walboro 255lph fuel pump, 3 inch exhaust piping with test cat. i havent ran diagnostics on the ECU yet. just curious if anyone has had this problem before and what i can do to fix it. if worst comes to worst the place where i got the swap done is going to replace the full engine harness an hope that works. thanks!

im sure you dont need to replace the whole wire harness dont worry....if you have your maf unplugged/ not installed and you can rev past 2000rpm - 2500rpm or so then you have a bad maf. with it unplugged/ not installed your ecu kicks into limp mode and should not allow the engine to rev past that certain rpm..if it does..bad maf. this would also explain why you are running rich however when running rich this obviously means too much fuel which is black smoke yours is white though you say..this probably means bad turbo seals...what i would do first is check the voltage to your maf..power wire which is black with a white stripe should be 12v and the white should be 5v. the black is a ground. also check your ecu for codes and also check your tps voltage..should be anywhere from .45v to .55v at idle and 4.5v at w.o.t. also make sure the gap on your spark plugs are right and make sure your timing is not off..do a compression test as well

well see whats strange is that with the maf off my car will still rev to the same rpms that it will with the maf on. basically i would be able to drive my car with the maf off and it would feel the same to me. ya ive been startin to question the turbo on this now. when i turn the car off i can hear the turbo slowly stopping. like a metal sound, doesnt sound like its scraping too bad, just a faint metal scratching sound. im positive my plugs are all set. but i deffinately regret paying a shop to do my engine swap but oh well haha. thanks for the help

youve got a bad maf if you can rev past 3500rpm and esp. if you can drive your car with no maf and have the same effects as if it were on. your compressor wheel scraping your compressor housing? plus white smoke? this means tons of shaft play and blown turbo seals which equals one shot a$$ turbo.
