Hello,

I need to replace my subframe bushings on my 90 S13. I know Energy does not make them for the S13 and you can use the Z32 with a longer bolt. Would it be better to use the Energy or get some solid mounts that many manufactures make? Will the solid mounts make the car ride stiffer? The sales rep at FRS said that the solid will not change the ride but just make the suspension do the work like it was intended to do, he said to buy the SPL bushings.

I am running out of money and need the best quality at the lowest price. ANY SUGGESTIONS on what bushings to buy that are cheaper then the SPL's at $140? Or should I just get the Energy bushings for the Z32? I think they run around $80.

I have had the car for 20 years and just drive it as my daily driver.

THANKS

I gotta believe that all the solid bushings are going to be about the same feel. They're all pretty much the same material and all are the same idea, so I wouldn't believe you'd notice much of a difference. I picked up the ISIS ones off of Ace Up Motorsports for around a hundred bucks shipped or so. They look great but haven't gotten them installed yet since the subframe is in powdercoat.

any bushing in your case is going to make the car ride stiffer. your car probably feels like the rear subframe is held in with marshmallows and duct tape, at least thats how mine felt. poly bushings will be more than adequate for your situation, metal would be fine too. the poly bushings will give a little easier ride but not by much. the choice is yours.

you can also use the subframe bushing from an s14 that is what im doing right now the only difference is that you need to leave the metal sleave on mine got messed up so i am going to have to get some sort of washer to replicate the lip at the bottom of the whole
