S13 Rear Hatch Wiring HELP!

Just purchased a new rear hatch with clean glass for my S13 yesterday. When I got home I realized that most of the wires are cut or missing. The last owner also shaved the 3rd brake light, so no 3rd brake light (it was 40 bucks, cant pass this deal)

After looking around online and studying the FSM i couldnt find a clear answer to my questions, so i am posting here to see if anybody knows. this is what i need to do.

1) I need to wire the rear defroster

2) wire some sort of a 3rd brake light to keep the po-po off my a**

i know it would be a major pain to remove my old harness from the rusty hatch and try to snake it back in my new hatch. So i was thinking....is there a way to make a new harness from scratch to wire to the defroster? Where are these wires located on the body side? How do i know where i should tap in to wire the 3rd brake light?

You could make a new harness. But the hatch you bought came with one, and you took pictures of it. Standing at the back of the car, the wires come and go at the top right area of the hatch.

On the harness you pulled out:
The big Blue/Red wire is for the defrost. It comes from the car, goes through the black box, turns into the black wire and plugs into the window.

The brake light uses the Red/Green and Black wires. All the brake lights use these colors.

The harness detaches right behind the plastic molding....just keep it oem and use the stock harness. Its super easy to unplug and feed through.

thanks for the replies guys,

If the stock harness is not that hard to feed back in the new hatch i might just do that, just from what i heard its a pain! Oh well i will give it a try! Thanks again guys
