S13 Rear Hatch Lock removal

I am going to change the rear center garnish piece. The Hatch lock has 2 bolts and I see a small retaining ring on the lock itself.When changing the garnish do I need to remove the retaining ring? It looks like a "C".

You dont need to remove that to replace the center garnish. Just replace the taillight garnish and stop thinking soo much. Unbolt, remove, replace, bolt, done.

Good. And I found out the clip holding the lock is called and "E" clamp.
