S13 rear axle removal from knuckle

I'm replacing my bushings and can't get the axle out of the knuckle. I can take out the four bolts and separate the hub from the knuckle, but the knuckle will still be on the axle.

I've hit it with freeze off and beat it to hell with a mallet. Any ideas?

Got it off; banged on the axle shaft.

One question though. What's underneath the axle boot that I may have damaged in the process?

I noticed there is more play in the side I had trouble getting off.
