I want to build an s13 hatchback rb25det for an autocross application.
I have 20-30k for the build, thats for everything, shell, engine, suspension, upgrades.
I need an expert on the subject to give me recommendations.
I am pretty good with cars but new to 240sx's and the RB motor.

Your best bet is to just buy a nice used car with that money. Not trying to be a d!ck or anything but that is a lot of money to spend on something you have absolutely no clue about.

^^^For real. Buying a used EVO would be easier. But then again, $20k to $30k into a 240 = surefire rape machine. There's just alot of info to unload with little idea on where to start. I'd say start with reading through some of the build threads stickied here and that should help give you some direction.

I should also add: Get very familiar with SCCA/Auto-x rules for your area. Some mods will place you out of the class that you wish to compete in.

If you plan to swap your engine, it'll bump you into a class with some crazy competition. Although, it seems as if you have the budget to keep your car competitive. For 30k, there are a crap ton of better platforms though.

Yeah, can't you get a Lotus for that much cash? Krash, what would you buy for Auto-x if you had $30k to burn?

well like i said i have done alot of work with cars and everything i read about the swap seems straightforward enough. i know that i don't want to run an rb26dett cause i don't want to convert to AWD and i would be getting the powerplant and the transmission as a package. I read the basic upgrades are standalone ecu, fuel system upgrades, intercooler upgrade turbo upgrade hks camshafts exhaust (obviously) and intake. but my question is what can the 5spd and the stock pistons and other internals such as valves really handle in terms of power without being upgraded?

and i really have lusted over an s13 hatch forever and I love inline motors especially inline 6's. that is why i chose this platform over an EG Civic k24a2 turbo w/ 6spd.

You can run RB26 without having to go AWD. Hell, you can go RB30 if you want to. Just hit up those build threads. Thats alot of info to spoon-feed someone.

This makes me know you're in over your head. Buy a C5 and have fun.

Pay me 20k to swap in a built SR into your car.
Its way better than the rb26dett because you don't need the flux capacitor to switch it from AWD to RWD. Also, I can do an engine oil bypass on it.

Let me know, I can make this thing fly. (Literally)

I already knew he was in over his head when he said he had $20-30k to spend.

Watch that and decide what you want to do. Better yet, watch The Underdog episodes to see if you want to build something other than a car solely for AutoX.
