Sorry in advance for sounding noobish but I want to get this right.

I'm trying to get my McKinney mounts in and they really don't seem to fit well. The slot is too short for the two bolts on the upper portion of the mount and there is NO hole for the lower portion. The hicas crap that is in there is also in the way but I doubt that these mounts take the hicas into account.

Go I need to drill and grind to install these mounts? The instructions sure aren't any help with "install mounts" as step one....

could be crossmember not straight or they might not even using a jig when welding the pieces. it should line fully. call them up they will work it out with you.

time to bhf the mount plates into place...when using mount kits I've found the best way to install them is to run the bolts thru the xmember and mount but leave them pretty loose, this allows you some jiggle room to get the engine in.then once the engine is in tighten the bolts and pull the plates into place, some antiseize helps here to act as lube.hopefuly you have found some one who is proficent in wiring as hicas cars are the most complex of all 240's to wire up.

The top ones line up fairly well where the stock mount bolts up, but there is no hole for the bottom L part I guess you could say. Do we need to drill through the crossmember? Also on the other side there is a power steering line in the way of the lower part of the mount, is that part of the hicas or do all S13s have a ps line running along the front of the crossmemember?

Anyone have photos of their mount install? I searched here and on google and I could not find any photos of how the mounts are 'supposed' to look in the engine bay before the engine in installed.

We are removing the hicas and subframe and swapping to a non-hicas subframe so it will no longer exist on the car, don't know if that matters much for the wiring or not.

this is the best i can do. pictured here is the mounts installed before the bottom holes were drilled. you do have to drill through the crossmember after the motor is sitting in the bay. hope this helps

The mount are built in a jig(same one we used for 10 years). some S14 have a short slot on the crossmember. You have to extend the slot in both direction. up about 1/4" and bottom 1/2". there was some major diferances in only some of the S14 crossmembers. Call me if you need more help.. Mack
