Guys, I need your advice!
Last Saturday I was driving my S13 RB25 for about 5 minutes when I noticed that the oil temp gauge doesn't move. The needle stayed at the starting point (40° C) all the time. I thought it was because of the cold ambient temps (6° C) and drove on... after another 3-4 minutes I rechecked the gauge and it still wasn't moving so i got nervous and checked the stock pressure gauge of my R33 GT-R cluster: It showed no oil pressure!!!
I immediately shut off the engine.
It turned out, that one oil line (from the block to the relocation kit) blew off... :-(
All the oil was out, spilled on the street the last 3-4 minutes of the ride.
I was hauled to my garage and immediately started removing the f****** pressed fittings of the oil lines and replaced them with heavy duty brackets (2 for each link). Refilled the RB25 with new oil and built up pressure before starting it.
The engine sounds smooth and purrs like a cat as ever before! I warmed it up and went boostin'. Everything sounded and worked just as it did before. It pulls extremely hard, revs freely and develops no weird noise.
Guys, is it possible that the bearings etc. can cope with no oil press. for minutes??
BTW, setup: stock block, ARP head bolts, Apexi head casket, N1 pumps, Haltech EMS, GT3076, 500hp @ flywheel, 8000rpm redline
up until I shut off the engine, I wasn't boostin' and rpm stayed below 3k...
