hey im new on here i have a 93 nissan 240sx coupe se. i bought it for $500 and theres nothing wrong with it all all and its all stock but the car has been swapped to a 5 speed by the original owner and i forget which 6-puck clutch he dropped in there lol. plus i really been having a hard time on which motor should i get for my 240sx coupe and i know everything bout the car and about the motors etc and should i go for a sr20det redtop which is easier and parts are available anywere and is dirt cheap or should i go with the rb25det. people been telling me different things bout both motors but its all my decision on what i wanna do and i wanted something for street, drag, daily driving for school n stuff, and a bit drifting but i can get a sr20 redtop for like $1,500 and a rb25 for $1,700 at this jdm warehouse i know and i live in new jersey. I want other peoples advice on what should i do with my car and i wanna spend prb around 7,500 or a little more on what i wanna do to this car so can yall help me with this.

Usually, I get pretty irratated at these 'which engine should i pick' threads... but I'm in a good mood today. The two engines I favor most are the VQ30DET and VH45DE.

Personally, I think SR's and RB's are good motors, but highly overrated.

rb20det I dont care what any one says the sr20 is a fan boy motor my buddy has a fully built sr 20 he is still breaking in. IM not saying there bad but seriously. a inline 6 2.0 making 350whp or a inline 4 2.0 making 350whp which one sounds more realiable to you? RB20 cost $1300 from jdm engine depot and jdm engine zone. THe hp ratings are not much different than the sr20

ya i can get a rb20det for $1000 at jdm engine depot in jersey and a sr20det redtop for i think 1600 or 1500 but both sr and rb are 2 liters but the sr has more parts n s*** so if that breaks down it wont really b a problem but the rb20 gonna cost alot n hard time finding parts plus u gotta get the mount kit n stuff for a rb motor

you could stick with a KA and rebuild it for boost.
spend the rest of the money on suspension and other things

i wasnt really gonna rebuild my ka but its gonna cost a whole lot money just to maintain a rb25 plus parts r expensive and u cant really get simple things from a auto car shop and would have to order everything online anyway so prob just stick with a sr

but i could go with a rb20 instead of a sr20 and this would be my first swap anyway and i could do it my self or have the first owner of my car do it and i heard that rb20's are becoming popular in the us for 240 swaps

Here is the info about what you need to put an RB in a 240. I would read it before you choose which engine you want.

well when i get the rb20 i could get this kit with it it comes with a aluminum radiator timing belt water pump downpipe and mount kit for 700 something from mckinney plus wat u think cuz that wont b a problem dropping that motor in but the sr20 is easier and parts r everywere
