Someone please tell me if this is normal for a S13 hatch.

When I use my key from the passenger side door I experience the following behavior:

1) When unlocking, both locks of the car will unlock.

2) When locking, only the passenger side locks, nothing happens to driver side

I believe so. The driver's side is the side that will unlock and lock both, but not so for the passenger side. Probably so the annoying passenger can't lock the driver out of the car or lock the keys in the car.

I don't know if i'm right, but its the same in my car.

I dont have power doors but, have you tryed locking them, and then locking it again after? Ive seen some cars with like a once for passenger, twice for both type of thing...

Yeah I've tried that, but doing so does not lock the driver side.

in my 93, if I lock from the passenger side the drivers side does not lock, nor does it unlock when I unlock from the passenger side.

Both of my s13's behave like yours, chicken. I agree with sky's take.

interesting, thank you. I wonder why Nissan would design the passenger locks to operate in such a manner

Again - As sky suggested, probably so that only YOU can prevent yourself from locking the keys in the car.
