I know there are a ton of threads on this topic, and believe me I have read most of them.My first problem was that the passenger headlight would not turn on.I did the light switch cleaning procedure found here.I tested the relays using this method and the Relay #3 is not getting power. So I recleaned and rechecked my switch.I tested for continuity between each pin in each switch state, but had trouble following the wiring diagram to verify that my switch was working 100%

So now I'm looking into my headlight timer. When under the dash looking for the unit, I found this unplugged cable.

After much searching, I am still unable to find where this plug should go. It also appears that it may have been damaged and half-a** repaired in the past. It was covered in electrical tape and appears to be reattached.

My next step is to clean up this "repair" job and test the connections, and then locate where this should be plugged in.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where this plug should go?

Thanks in advance!

Dont know what that fusible link is for, but, you probably just need a new switch. Go to the junkyard and retrieve one. Install...

just checked the local junkyard only has a 95 =(

and by "repairing" my headlight switch, I broke it even further. My passenger headlight stays on as long at the switch is plugged in.

if you can wait for a bit id say try looking in the complete part out thread and see if any 1 has a switch you can grab from them.

took the switch apart again and fixed my lights. The lights work perfectly now (parking, low, high), but no change to my motors not going down.Blinkers also no longer work. I believe I figured out how they should work, but even when jumping the switch on the dash with a cable, I cannot get the blinkers to come on.

My main question is, on the light switch there are two plugs, what is the job of the smaller plug that connects to the stalk of the switch. Small brown plug (covered in foam for anti-rattle) with 4 pins. The switch rattles at the tip of the stalk(the turning part).

Id really appreciate it if someone who knew this would post it.

Thanks

That plug is "bonus". It +12 ignition voltage, I used to for powering relay coils in my car.

can you elaborate? are you saying that it serves no purpose?

are you talking about the blue plug in the first post, or the brown plug in the last post?

On your car no, maybe on a model with addl power options, but all of the base models I have tinkered with had that plug just hanging under the dash.

i know my headlights wont go down when its really cold outside so you think that might be part of the issue as well? personally it doesnt bother me one bit that mine stay up all the time in cold months and work fine in warmer weather, im sure thats a sign of weak headlight motors but i dont wanna fix something that im getting rid of anyway.
