What method did you use to full the small gap around the unit? I got mine all prepped earlier and I test fitted it and noticed the small gap below.

Most units come with a little trim panel that is supposed to cover that gap.

My Alpine single din did, but it was to small of a gap for it to fit. I just left it off, didn't look bad at all. Seems like you have the same problem.

Do what Broadfield did and see if you can make a cover like this:

Only smaller of course..

Never did a double din install, so I don't know if that's possible. :\

Hey MODERATOR. Just noticed.

Shouldn't this be in the "interiors" thread?

My buddy has one for his jeep. He gave me this headunit in a trade, so I can probably grind that down to match.

As for AZ, this is not a general question as those in there, but specific to a certain make and model, with a specific model unit. However nice try.

The best option is to use the trim ring that comes with the headunit and space the radio back in so the back of the OEM trim butts up tight to the front of the Pioneer trim ring. You can simply drill new holes in the OEM radio brackets. I would suggest filing them out so they are oblong front to back. That way you can slide the radio in or out for slight adjustments. Although not a very good pic, you can see on mine how the OEM trim touches the Alpine trim ring perfectly:

Oh, right. Everything in those forums isn't model specific. I like how the s14 dash conversion thread that is 5 YEARS old is in that foum. Lulz.

And just to keep this thread on topic, there's really no other solution to your problem unless you make your own trim piece. It's dumb how the factory brackets aren't parallel with the oem trim panel itself. Really takes away from the look.

Well why not make it the electronics - audio thread while your tear. As for Tobys idea, I like. it. I have a few spare stock mounts and a huge abs kit for a double din as well. I am going to work with that, I do think I may need to bite the bullet and buy a new interior radio trim. All the ones I have have a broken tab or 2
