Hello yes im a newbe sorry but I had to start somewhere. I have searched NICO for probably 6 months now but have never posted. My cars pretty much stock and I have been saving ever since I bought it. By the end of the summer ill have around $4000. I wanted to know in your opinion since a lot of you have a lot more experience than I do with this motor if I should lean towards the s13 or s14 sr20det. I know all the stock facts about each motor from searching this site, but I see a lot more s13 swaps than s14 is that because they're less expensive or is there something I don't know. I can get the motors from a near by shop http://www.zerolift.com/($1650 for the s13, and $2500 for the s14 both come with engine, ECU, and transmission. Im leaning towards the s14 motor but that extra $850 if I go with the s13 motor looks good to.

Any replies would be appreciated and sorry if this is a typical newbe question that I couldn’t find while searching. Fell free to flame me, I got to learn some way.

S14 head is a better design and its more expensive. S13 still good but its a high port head. Just depends on how much you wanna spend. Personally I think more people go for the S13 because its cheaper.

S14 Motor.. just because the slant is SEXY.. but the only problem you run into is tuning with an S-AFC.. which I found out about yesterday.. because the 14 ECU is so aggressive when you start to run higher boost you need more timing, and it throws all kinds of weird signlas between the ecu and the SAFC.. I hear that the 14 ECU is harmless.. you can play with that thing all day.. but I think for the money.. only 850 more.. get the 14..

If you get a motor from there make sure that you pick it out and have a compression test and all of the other **** done before you buy it. If you have an s13 get the s13 motor if you have an s14 get the s14 motor. An s14 into an s13 has a little more pita than just a s13 into and s13.

P.S. make sure u get an mafs and ignitor chip if you get it from there.

Highport has more power potential.

S14 pro's:-newer-VTC-T28 turbo

S14 con's:-more $-VTC-lowport head-harder wiring

It really depends on what power level you are going for. If you want all out power, go with the Highport s-13 motor, If you only want <300 hp with basic bolt ons you could go with the slighly newer s-14 for the mileage factor (this is what phase 2 suggested by the way).
