I was just looking for some tips and advice on doing a rear differential swap. I drive a '92 240sx hatchback and I plan on swapping my stock open diff with a VLSD from a Z32 300zx twin turbo. If any of you fellow motorheads has any experience with this particular swap, any help would be appreciated. (Hail to the JDM gods )...

Unless you are producing LOTS of power, I wouldn't recommend the TT diff. The gearing is all wrong. Otherwise, you'll need to swap the rear diff cover and get some different axles. All of this has been covered numerous times and there are numerous writeups.

You'll want a diff from a NA Z32 , not a TT , if you want the same gear set as your open.

Well here's the deal, I've got TWO KA motors....one is stock and it is currently in my car. But the other is out of a salvage 240sx, and it has all forged internals and an HKS turbo kit on the way. When it is complerely finished, I'm swapping the stock KA with the modified KA....My goal is 420hp. Is that enough for a TT diff? Or should I consider another anternative?

I would have to assume it would be enough, because that is more then it is ment to handle stock.

now i was led to believe the TT diff housing was longer at the pinion (i have no idea what its called, the "front") where driveshaft flange is, by almost 2 inches or so. cant forget that its set up for highway, so it has some pretty weird gear numbers 3.692?. the n/a ones have 4.083? the exact same gearing either way. but if you have a 6-bolt rear end like most s13's have, you'll need to source 5-bolt axles, or find j-30 ones since they bolt up to?

i dunno if im wrong, somebody correct me if i am, i may be
