Is it true that the stock oil pressure switch on S13 is only for oil pressure check? I just checked FSM (LC-3 & LC-4). It seems like the oil pressure switch is for plugging the hole only, and it doesn't connect to the ECU.

Actually, what does the stock oil pressure switch do?

In this thread zerothread/275181, once you disconnect the green wire from the stock oil pressure switch (2nd picture in the thread), where do you connect it back to?

My setup: http://zilvia.net/f/engine-tec....html

Thanks!

As far as I remember, the oem pressure sensor only runs to the light on the cluster, and I'm not sure what pressure it turns the light on. I've removed mine and just run an aftermarket oil pressure gauge.

So the stock S13 oil pressure switch connects to ECU, and when the oil pressure is low (at certain #), ECU sends a signal to the cluster and a warning light is on?

If that is the case, after you installed your aftermarket oil pressure gauge, did you connect the wire back to your aftermarket oil pressure sender unit? Or did you not connect the wire back at all?

Not sure if it goes to the ECU, or just light. I just disconnected the sensor and left the connector loose, the light didn't come on.

as soon as it lights up... it takes a picture of your facial expression...AW S**T... then it lights up and says you need a new motor...lol...its usually too late if the light kicks on, you might get lucky...i also left it dangling, taped up and using an aftermarket pressure gauge in place of the stock sensor.

much like the stock water temp gauge, in reality there are 3 settings,

off, on, too f***ing late.

aftermarket is the only way to go

the oil pressure sensor only goes to the light, and it turns on when there's less than 5psi.......so essentially yeah...it lets ya know when ya need a new engine:).
