S13 OEM wheels? Laquer or enamel?

Does anyone know, or know of a way of determining, if the stock OEM wheels on a '91 240SX SE have a laquer or enamel clearcoat. I am painting mine and NEED to know! Thanks

I just sanded mine with 120 grit, then 200 grit and it painted just fine. if there is any kind of paint on the wheel, that will take if off or at least rough it up enough for other paint to stick.

But in answer to your question, yes, I think that there would be some sort of clear finish on the wheels otherwise the aluminum would start to oxidize and pit. I don't know this for a fact, but it seems to make sense to me.

The reason I ask is that I'm currently painting mine with laquer. Laquer can cause an emamel finish to lift or wrinkle. There are a couple of ares on my wheel that I painted where it seems like the paint doesn't want to dry! It's been two days. Weird!
