s13 not starting

a friend of mine has a 92 s13 stock ka24de, when he bought it is wasnt running well so he had some "mechanic" who pulled it apart made a mess then left. he pulled the whole top end ...we put it all back together with new gaskets, plugs, injectors, fluids, and filters, we have power to the plugs, the injectors are working but still wont start. any ideas please help it was gonna be my daily driver and i need it...thanks

sounds like a timing problem. camshafts were installed correctly? if its cranking with fuel/spark, then next step would be timing/compression..

Check your compression to make sure your cams are correct. If its ok, then check your ignition timing. Sounds like you have the dist. timed 180 degrees out. Pull the #1 spark plug out and install compression gauge. Crank engine over till you have compression on #1, this is the power or compression stroke. Turn the crank until you reach TDC on the balancer. Now take the dist cap off and see if it points to #1 plug on dist cap. If not then pull dist and turn it and reinstall with rotor pointing to #1. Put it all back together and try to start again.
